T is for Train

We made trains this week. We got some books about trains at the library and then we made trains. Isaac is still having a hard time with some shapes (rectangles, diamonds, crescent, octagon) so we used the box cars to talk about rectangles. The boys drew the smoke and the train tracks and glued the pieces on. They also got to cut their pieces out and Isaac is getting much better at cutting on the lines. He still gets frustrated and then wants me to finish but he is making progress. One thing I have to say about Isaac is that he is an artist. He loves to draw, loves crafts, loves everything artistic. I really love to see that in him and I really hope I can continue to foster that talent in him. He must be related to his great-great grandma Teichert. Maybe he took art lessons from her in the pre-existence

Anway, back to trians.

We sang the train song. I have heard that a lot of people don't know this song and I have to tell you, that is a SHAME!

Here are the words:

Choo Choo the big train is coming down the track now(move your arms back and forth)
Choo Choo the big train is coming down the track (move your arms back and forth)
Stop (hand out in a stop motion), look (hands to eyes), and listen (hands to ears)
Stop, look, and listen (same as above)
Choo Choo the big trian is coming down the track (move hands back and forth)
Choo, Choo!! (pull horn cable)

My boys LOVE this song. Eli will have me sing it over and over and over. My mom taught it to me and I hope my boys keep the train song going when they have kids.

I have taught our nursery kids this song and all the parents have asked me to write it down for them. The kids all love it!
