Letters to Jesus

I remember when we were growing up that my mom had us sit down for Family Home Evening and write letters to Jesus. We wrote in our letters things that we wanted to improve the next year--kind of like New Year's Resolutions, I guess.

I wanted to make Christmas more meaningful for the boys so this year we did the same thing. We talked about the Nativity and about how the greatest gift we are giving is the birth of the Savior, His sacrifice for us, and the resurrection. Then we all discussed gifts we could give to the Savior and wrote letters to him. The boys wrote some great things. Will said he would read the scriptures every day and Isaac said he would be nicer to his brothers. After we wrote our letters we stuffed them in our stockings. Now that Christmas is over I took the letters out and put them in our journals so we can take them out next year.

I think this is a great activity for our family and think we will try and do it each year.

What a great idea.... much better than letters to Santa!
