M&M's, Goldfish, and Graphs

This was a really perfect activity for our boys. I bought goldfish and M&M's from the store. I split them up in bowls (each boy got their own). Then I made cards that had colors for the M&M's on colors for the goldfish. Then I drew a bar chart. I had the boys put the M&M's and goldfish in the appropriate bar. This was a great activity. We taught them about biggest, smallest, tallest, shortest, colors, and counting. We were also able to teach them about graphs and why we have them. More importantly, we got to eat our graphs!

What our graphs looked like at the beginning of the activity
What our graphs looked like at the end of the activity
It was really fun to watch their personalities during this activity. Will put all the colors on together. So, he graphed all the blues, then all the yellows, etc. Isaac graphed one of each color. He graphed a blue, then a yellow, then a green, etc. and then would repeat. I just love seeing how their minds work!

Okay...can I just say after looking at this blog that you are probably the best mom in the world. Do you know that other mom's don't do all this stuff? We wish we did but we don't. Why? Because we are just not that good. Your kids are really lucky.

Cindy, you are wonderful for making me feel so good. Some times I don't feel like a very good mom. I'm sure that is normal. Truthfully, the boys don't have a lot of friends right now and I feel like I need to involve them in something fun so they don't get too bored.

Again, thank you.

You are a good mom to do such fun stuff. It is funny how Will and Isaac did it differently. Seeing how kids think is definitely a fun/interesting this to watch!
