We made Totum Poles today. We got online and looked at pictures of totum poles and talked about which Indians made them. Then we made some. The boys enjoyed this craft. They enjoyed making the faces. Their finished product didn't quite look like you would imagine a totum pole to look but they liked being able to draw happy and sad faces. They've been playing with them all day and "flying" them around the house so the wings would flap. I think they also used them as a telescope.
This activity required two toilet paper rolls taped together (or one paper towel tube), paper, markers, construction paper, and tape. All I did was wrap the white paper around the tube. I cut out the wings (could have your kid cut the wings out for cutting practice) and then had the boys draw faces on the tube. Then we taped the wings on. That was it. No glue, no mess, just drawing and taping. My kind of activity.

I have these planned out for this week, too! Looks like you had a lot of fun. I really like that you share all of your projects--thank you! And it was so good to talk to you the other day, thanks so much for the phone call. You really brightened my day.
